An introductory qualification, it is the perfect start for someone who wishes
to delve into wines. This two-day program offers the basic introduction to
main wine styles and gyaan on its various aspects. Best suited for hotel
management students,new entrants in the liquor trade, front-line professionals
looking at strengthening their wine fundamentals and wine enthusiasts
who wish to go a step further than simply drinking the beverage.
At this level, our educators will guide you with individual attention, and aid
you in exploiting your senses to explore a wine. You will be introduced to
the basics of wines and primary terms used to describe it, key varietals,
the skills of opening, serving, tasting wines, and commenting on them, all
intrinsic to the art of sommellerie.
For enthusiasts, this level is a great way to get acquainted with wines and
to never feel intimidated again when faced with a wine list, or asked to try
and comment on a wine that someone has just offered you.

The Certificate 1 in Wines is assessed by means of a 50-multiple choice questions examination, to be completed in 60 minute. Candidates are required to get a minimum of 35 correct answers to graduate the program.
Select the city of your choice and the session dates, fill in your information and submit the same to us. We will reserve a spot for you at the selected batch. Once the payment is made you will be registered for the program and will soon receive a confirmation email with joining details.
You can still register and we will put your on the waitlist. In case you still do not get a space on the said session, you will automatically be considered for the next session on first-come basis. You will not be booked but we will present you with the first right to refusal.
For Certificate 1, you do not require prior studies. You’ll receive the study material on the day of the course itself. However, should you wish to receive it in advance, upon your complete enrolment, you can email us at email@example.com or call us at 9560046655 and request for the same.
Yes, please carry your own stationary and a Government photographic ID proof for the examination. In case you’re a foreign national, kindly carry an equivalent ID proof, or your passport.
In order to cancel your booking write to us at firstname.lastname@example.org along with a cancellation and refund request. Should the request reach us 15 days prior to the course’s starting date, no cancellation charge will be levied. However, a cancellation charge of INR5000 will be levied, in case the the request is made less than 15 days before the course starting date. No refunds will be made in case the request is received 7 days before the beginning of the program. In case of cancellation of the course by IWBS full fee will be refunded.
Refunds are made via credit vouchers only
We take approximately two week to evaluate the Certificate 1 examinations and announce the results. You’ll receive your scores via registered email only. Your scores will not be disclosed to others and vice versa. Post that, your certificates will be furbished which can be collected either from our office in person or can be couriered to you via a local courier company.
Please note, all couriers are dispatched with personal responsibility of the receiver. In case of any damages or loss during the courier process, IWBS will not be liable for the same.
The next natural progression is to study the Certificate 2 in Wines + Beverages. It’s much vast a study and some prior self study is highly recommended. We suggest you to register as early as possible and be in possession of your study material in order to get on to some self-study before coming to the sessions.
