The word Fratelli translates to mean ‘Brothers’. It refers to the coming together of the Secci brothers, Andrea and Alessio from Italy, along with Sekhri brothers, Kapil and Gaurav and the Mohite-Patil brothers, Ranjitsinh and Arjunsinh.
The name was adopted to represent the desire that each of these pioneers nurtured in their hearts – to create a product of truly international standard but one that was made in India using centuries-long Italian wine making traditions.
Reputed Tuscan Viticulturist and Oenologist Piero Masi is one of the seven partners and together these seven partners planted vineyards and set up a cutting edge winery, in a back of beyond place with inhospitable terrain like Akluj (170 kms south of Pune, Maharashtra) where it is difficult to grow anything, leave alone Sangiovese, a grape varietal not known to do well outside its home in Central Italy. This was in the year 2006 and rest as they say is history.
Fratelli is a premium Indian wine brand that has been steadily gaining recognition for its quality and setting new benchmarks worldwide.
An Indo-Italian venture, Fratelli was set up in 2007 with the intention to produce the best wines in the country. Collaboration between three families along with the viticulture and wine-making expertise of Piero Masi , master wine maker from Tuscany, the partnership aims to bring in Italian wine making traditions coupled with the best that the Indian wine terrain has to offer.
